Google Maps Goes Indoors

My recent move to Los Angeles would not be a success if it were not for Google Maps. My Android phone takes me step-by-step through an automated voice around across the United States and in Los Angeles. Sometimes I wonder, "How did people travel with out GPS back in the day? I think we can all agree Google Maps is simply amazing.

It does not end there....Google Maps has mastered the streets and the outside world, but what about when you are indoors and you have no idea where to go in this new building. Google Maps has a solution for that also. They are now mapping the indoors so that we can plan our trips from the moment we get in the car to the exact room our final destination is located.

Watch this introductory video to understand it better.

If you are excited as I am about this product, as it continues to grow, that means we do not have to be as lost when we are in different airports. We can plan our trip to the exact gate.

The details placed into these indoor maps are simply amazing. I think about the times I go to the mall and have the hardest time finding a store or food court and the nearest directory is no where to be found. As a guy this is amazing, because I have to ask for less assistance lol.

Here are some companies that Google has partnered with to provide a indoor mapping experience.
  • Mall of America, IKEA, The Home Depot, select Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, Daimaru, Takashimaya and Mitsukoshi locations and more.
  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Narita International (NRT), among others.
  • JR and Tokyu Corporation
Watch an IKEA demo here.

Lets say you are business owner, well you can get your business to be apart of Google Maps. With your business included with this feature, customers can have an easier time navigating through your business, which can help your sales and customer service. There are so many benefits to having Google be a part of your team.

The Official Google Blog also provides more information on this indoor mapping service. I have to give all credit to Google blog because it is where receive most of my information.

Google Wallet

How many times has your wallet fallen out of your back pocket? Or your wallet has disappeared in the abyss of your purse? Google has brought a solution to your carelessness. Take the Google technology and unite it with your bulging wallet, and you get fast secure way to use your credit carts.

How it works?
Google wallet takes participating credit cards and merges it with an app on your phone. Instead of pulling out your wallet and carrying around multiple credit cards you can just carry your phone around to make payments. Your phone becomes the credit card and it has a tap and go feature, similar to what many credit cards have now.

Google will not make a service that will make you more vulnerable to Identity theft or harm, this new service is highly secure to use, perhaps even more so than your physical credit cards. The creators of this service give a 2 minute explanation as to how this works.

For more information on this service, visit Google's official blog on Google Wallet.

Holiday Shopping Part 1: Chromebook

Tiss' the season for families and friends to get together and share fellowship over a delicious meal. A season for milk, cookies and a fireplace. A season for the whole family to part take in the decorations of Christmas lighting. And last but not least, a season for complete chaotic holiday shopping!

The good news is that holiday shopping does not have to be complete chaos. Google has great options for your holiday shopping. Take a look at the Google Chromebook:

I absolutely enjoy using the Google Chromebook. Its fast, efficient and always online. I never have to wait for it to boot up and it is always ready for me to use. Its perfect for me because I am a web-head. I spent a majority of my time surfing the web and watching videos. Since the Chromebook is updated with realtime I can stay on top of news, work, social media, products, services and so much more. Although the Chromebook may not be the best for business management because they require specific software to be installed, it meets my needs. I can go to Google Documents and write a paper, work on a spreadsheet, set up a power point and its all saved online so I do not have to use a hardrive. Google has such a wide range of online service, using the Chromebook is actually ideal for me and could be for you or someone you know.

You are probably wondering what the cost is for a Chromebook. Well Google has been working with its partners to make it more affordable for you an I to have access to one. The Acer and Samsung Chromebooks are available for $299 starting this week with their online partners. That's a pretty good deal if you ask me.

You can also test run the Chromebook when you fly with Virgin America. Only selected airports have Chromebooks for costumers to check out, here is the link.

You may have questions concerning the Chromebook, you can leave a comment or refer to the Chromebook FAQ's, Remember I am not an official employee of Google, I am simply a consumer like you and I love Google.
